Partnership working
We work across NW Sheffield in the neighbourhoods covered by the Hillsborough, Netherthorpe and Walkley Area Panel. These include Upperthorpe, Netherthorpe, Langsett, Crookes, Walkley, Hillsborough, Winn Gardens, Wisewood, Wadsley, Lower Stannington and parts of Owlerton.
By bringing together organisations involved in improving neighbourhoods in NW Sheffield we want to:
• Reduce duplication and maximise impact by working together
• Identify the key issues facing neighbourhoods in NW Sheffield and address them
• Improve public services at a neighbourhood level
• Influence citywide policies and strategies
In September 2004 a strategy for NW Sheffield was launched, Working Together: a strategy for North West Sheffield. The strategy identified five priority themes that need to be addressed in NW Sheffield:
• Access to employment
• Environment
• Youth and play provision
• Health
• Community Safety
To address some of these priorities, the Board has formed sub groups known as ‘theme’ groups. There are currently two ‘theme groups’.

Improving public services at a neighbourhood level
The Partnership is involved in a project that is looking at how local people can influence the way services are delivered in their neighbourhood. This project is called the ‘Neighbourhood Arrangements Pilot’ and will run until March 2008. The project is looking at how public services can work with local people in Netherthorpe/Upperthorpe/Langsett and Winn Gardens to address issues that are important to residents. The idea is that lessons can be learned and then applied to other neighbourhoods in NW Sheffield once the project has ended.
The Neighbourhood Arrangements Pilot is part of a citywide programme looking at different ways of helping local people to influence public services.
