Starting a Community Group
There are several organisations in Sheffield which provide support to people starting a group.
Voluntary Action Sheffield is an excellent place to start. They have published a leaflet called starting a community group in Sheffield which has details of the issues any new group needs to think about. There is also a section on their website with information sheets on everything from governance and writing a constitution to having volunteers and fundraising. They have members of staff who can provide advice & guidance on a range of issues.
OFFER is Sheffield's community empowerment network. They provide support for local Community Forums through their local links network and they are also developing a faith network. OFFER also support workers in the voluntary/community/faith sector to participate in the Sheffield First Partnership and produces the Sheffield Infrastructure Network guide which gives details or organisations which support the voluntary/community/faith sector.
